IDF has taken note of the FAO/WHO sustainable healthy diets guiding principlesi, based on the proposed definition that sustainable healthy diets are dietary patterns that promote all dimensions of individuals health and wellbeing; have low environmental pressure and impact; are accessible, affordable, safe and equitable; and are culturally acceptable. These principles translate this concept into clear non-technical information and messaging to be used by governments and other actors in policymaking and communications.
