The highly anticipated 2024 edition of the IDF World Dairy Situation Report is now available. This comprehensive report was launched today during the Dairy Outlook 2024 session at the IDF World Dairy Summit 2024 in Paris. Offering invaluable data and analysis on the global production, processing, trade, prices, and consumption of milk and dairy products, the report draws from contributions by 50 key dairy-producing countries. Now in its 15th edition, this report continues to be a cornerstone for the global dairy sector.

During the session, dairy leaders, experts, and journalists gathered to hear key highlights of this flagship publication. The report provides vital insights for decision-makers across the dairy value chain, from farmers and processors to policymakers and investors. As in previous years, it includes over 30 statistical data tables and features long-term market analysis provided by both FAO and OECD.

Laurence Rycken, Director General of IDF, and Helle Huseby, Chair of the IDF Standing Committee on Dairy Policies and Economics, emphasized the importance of this report in navigating today’s rapidly changing dairy landscape. In their joint foreword, they note:
“The IDF World Dairy Situation Report is an essential resource, empowering stakeholders worldwide with accurate and timely information to understand global dairy trends. This report supports strategic decision-making that shapes the future of the dairy sector while reinforcing its socio-economic contributions.”

They also highlighted the resilience and adaptability of the dairy industry in the face of ongoing global challenges, from economic uncertainties to rising environmental pressures. Rycken and Huseby stressed the sector’s role in ensuring food security, nutrition, and economic livelihoods, particularly for vulnerable populations. They reaffirmed IDF’s commitment to balancing environmental sustainability with the nutritional and socio-economic benefits dairy provides.

This year’s edition also shines a spotlight on the French dairy sector, offering an in-depth look at how it is evolving and contributing to both the national economy and global dairy dynamics. The 2024 report, co-edited with NCTID in collaboration with CNIEL (France) and ZuivelNL (Netherlands), represents the culmination of an extensive joint effort to gather and analyze the latest data from across the globe.

The IDF World Dairy Situation Report 2024 is now available for purchase on the IDF corporate website under the publication section. Digital formats of the report’s tables and statistical data, along with illustrative graphs, are available to facilitate their use in professional reports and presentations.
