FIL-IDF participated in the 32nd Annual Meeting of the China Dairy Industry Association (CDIA) in Chengdu, China, from 26 to 28 May, bringing together more than 3,000 stakeholders from across the global dairy sector.

IDF President Gilles Froment contributed to discussions on the future of dairy, highlighting the importance of science‑based standards, innovation, sustainability and international partnerships.

In his address, he also presented IDF’s strategic vision for 2026-2030: “Nourishing the world by advancing dairy knowledge.”

Engaging with China’s dairy sector

The visit provided opportunities to engage directly with China’s dairy ecosystem, including:

  • Visits to advanced production systems, including desert‑based organic farming
  • A tour of the Mengniu Ningxia Lighthouse Factory, showcasing digitalisation and innovation
  • Exchanges with industry leaders and stakeholders across the value chain

These interactions offered valuable insight into the scale and innovation driving dairy development in China.

Shared priorities

The discussions reinforced common priorities across the sector:

  • Sustainability and climate action
  • Food safety and quality
  • Animal health and welfare
  • Innovation across production and processing

As highlighted in IDF’s global outlook, Asia remains the fastest‑growing region for dairy consumption, with China playing a key role in shaping future trends.

IDF extends its thanks to the China Dairy Industry Association and its partners for hosting this event and enabling valuable exchanges.
