The International Dairy Federation (FIL-IDF) was pleased to participate in the DaIMA (Dairy Interventions for Mitigation and Adaptation) Regional Inception Workshop held in Nairobi (KE), bringing together representatives from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, alongside international development partners, technical organisations and financial institutions committed to advancing climate-resilient dairy development.
As part of the programme, IDF delivered a presentation on “Dairy-sector Standards and Global Knowledge Linkages”, highlighting the importance of science-based standards, international expertise and knowledge sharing in supporting sustainable dairy transformation. IDF also explored opportunities for collaboration with the DaIMA programme to strengthen technical capacities and accelerate the adoption of climate-smart dairy practices across the region.
The workshop also reinforced that a sustainable dairy future depends on people as much as technology. IDF emphasized the importance of the active participation of women and youth, together with strong animal health and welfare outcomes, while welcoming the growing collaboration between International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), the FAO GLEAM initiative and DaIMA partners to strengthen the programme’s mitigation efforts.
